Today was my niece's 6th birthday. I remember the day she was born I was student teaching in Denton and could not go to the hospital with Troy. It was killing me to not be there and enjoy all the excitement. 6 short years later here we are and Ainsley's in kindergarten and is learning to write. Since she is learning to write I thought she might like her own stationary kit to practice writing notes to her friends. When I was her age one of my aunts made me a stationary kit similiar to the one I made Ainsley and I cherished it for years. It probably started my love of all things paper (notecards, sticky's, wrapping paper, etc.) As a matter of fact, the kit's probably still in my desk in my room at my parents house.
So, here's what I did to make the stationary kit. Purchased coordinating "cupcake" paper items at Target on the dollar isle and a small rubbermaid box with snap-on lid.
Then I packed them inside the box lined with tissue paper...
Next I used a pink paint pen to write "Ainsley's Stationary" on the lid and super-glued cupcake cutouts that I cut off a giftbag that matched the stationary.
...and presto! A stationary kit is born!
Here are a few other pics from this evening. We enjoyed Sammy's BBQ and cupcakes.
Rett even had a present to open! Thanks Grammy!
...This is what I found when I went to find Rett. Ainsley had taken him to the bathroom. Such a "helpful" cousin. :)
SLEEP UPDATE (NIGHT 2): Rett still woke up 3 times last night (Night 2). He easily went back to sleep (within 2-3 mins without crying) after he called me and I went in there. One time he wanted the light on, one time he wanted the light off, and one time he wanted me to take his lizard out of his room because it was "scary". Now we just need to get him to not call me to come in there. :/

LOVE the stationary kit! You are so crafty!! And it sounds like progress on the sleep front. Go Rett!
ReplyDeleteI remember when we used to write letters to each other in junior high! I love the stationary kit. Great penmanship, too!
ReplyDeleteStay consistent with the new sleep training. He will get there! I love the part about the lizard being scary...where do they come up with this stuff?!
