Many of you know that Rett has not slept through the night EVER! We had a short little stint when he was 10 months old that lasted for about a month but that's it. Usually every night he wakes up, comes into our room, asks for milk, says he wants to watch a "show", etc. This happens about 2-3 times a night. Well, I am pretty tired of it.
So, I read THIS book about what to do about it. I read the entire chapter about getting your "jack-in-the-box" kid to stay in his bed and implemented it last night. I typed up and printed Rett's sleep rules and make a sticker chart for him and posted BOTH next to his bed. Before bed we read the sleep rules and then I told him that if he stayed in his bed ALL night that in the morning we could put a sticker on the chart and he would get a surprise (I'm thinking of it as a reward, not a bribe). Anyways, he seemed very excited and fell easily right to sleep. However, he then woke up at 12am, 1:45, 6am, and 6:15am. He never got out of bed but called for me. He cried at 12 and 1:45 to come get in our bed but I told him if he did he wouldn't get a sticker or a surprise so he would say: "okay, i sleep here". Anyways, the last time he woke up was at 7am and I went in there and said it's time to get up and he shot out of bed and said "get my sticker now?". I got his sticker and let him put it on his chart. He didn't even really care about the surprise (Which was a hotwheels car)...but I gave it to him anyways. I am exhausted...but I hope the hardest night is behind us.

That's a great idea! I hope he does better tonight and here on out! We have been so spoiled with Shelby's good sleeping habits...I can't imagine how difficult it's been for you. BTW - you are so cute to do this blog! I love it! : )
